The Potential of (empty) Parking Lots: WORTH KNOWING WEDNESDAYS



Better Block, 40 parking spots were turned into a park at Forest-Audelia in Dallas. The demonstration helped secure $7.5 million to make the park permanent.



According to D Magazine, a quarter of land in central Dallas is covered in concrete for parking lots, "a percentage roughly shared by the Texas cities of Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio." The city is considering updating parking codes, which could include removing minimums in some areas.


Our friends at Better Block have demonstrated the potential of empty parking lots by turning them into pop-up parks, like this vibrant one at Forest-Audelia in North Dallas.
